Stained Glass Inspired: Window Panel - Guided Workshop (2 days)

We're starting from scratch and creating our own glass, literally! Frit, which are tiny particles of glass from powder to rock-like, is the foundation of this project. Students will experiment with color and transparency while our creations undergo intense heat under pressure revealing spectacular variegated rainbow sheet glass. Cut and cold-work these new sheets into gentle curves, straight, or bulbous shapes. Design them into dreamy kaleidoscope-like patterns and fire into a singular vibrant window panel. This workshop is 2-days. On day 1 students will create their very own colorful sheet glass to use in their project. On day 2 students will cut and cold-work their glass into geometric shapes and lay them up to be grouted with powdered frit and fired with a smooth but textured surface. Finished pieces will be a lovely 7"x7" panel to display in a window.
